We’re very excited to announce we are working with Cai Burton, a local illustrator and designer to bring some artwork to our meeting spaces. Each room will have its own themed mural, based on the scientist it’s named after and all the rooms should be completed by mid-September.
So, who are you Cai?
My name is Cai Burton. I am an illustrator and designer based in Bristol but what that really means is that I draw things for a living. Which I think is pretty cool! I like cats. I’m a tea man. I love a good t-shirt with a positive message on and I’m really bad at tweeting. But that’s getting a bit off topic now!
How did you get into this career?
I never went to university, and I just picked up a pen and kept drawing. I probably learnt more about what I do now in my physics class than my art class. I would doodle all the time, and now I’ve turned those doodles into something bigger than the margins of my page. I love adventures, and they inspire the work I do. I’m always looking for somewhere new to explore and trying to get out as much as possible.
Why is art important in the workplace?
I genuinely believe that art can have a positive impact on your wellbeing. Which is why I’ve made it my goal use creativity to build a happier and healthier society. Aiming high, I know! Our life should spark joy, and art can be that spark. Whether it’s a nice mug for your cuppa in the morning or a workshop exploring your own creativity, I want to help other people find their artistic outlet.
What are you looking forward to with the Future Space project?
These murals will bring even more life and innovation to the space. I’m excited to work alongside everyone in the building and create something that I hope will inspire others in the future.
