A shirty tale – from Bristol to London in 31 years
Nick Wheeler (@Nicktheshirt), Founder and Chairman of Charles Tyrwhitt will deliver a lecture as part of the Bristol Distinguished Address Series entitled ‘A shirty tale – from Bristol to London in 31 years.’
Nick Wheeler started his shirt company, Charles Tyrwhitt, from his room in Clifton as a 21-year-old geography undergraduate.
He will talk about the journey from tapping names and addresses into his Amstrad word processor to opening stores in London, New York and Paris. Answering questions such as:
What does it take to keep going when all around you are telling you to give up?
What does it take to start again when you have gone bust?
What is it like when you realise you are no longer the best person to run your own business?
How do you feel when you make mistakes so colossal that even you start to question your ability to keep going?
The journey has been fun and it is just beginning.
